CCC 2196-2550 (YOUCAT 367-468)
If I am created in the image of God, how can a respect that image within myself? If others are created in the image of God, how can I respect that image within them? How can I love others as Jesus Christ loves them? When I fail in my duty toward myself or my neighbor, what can I do to make things right again? Are there offenses that I would never be able to repair by myself? Where can I get help to repair the damage that has been done?
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life. Amen.
St. John the Evangelist
Do I honor my parents and those in authority over me? Am I responsible with the authority I have been given over others? Do I protect life at all costs? Do I live a chaste life? Do I respect the property of others, even their own reputation? Do I preserve the truth, even when it is difficult? Are my desires and thoughts in line with what is true, good, beautiful? Do I desire the good of others, even without getting anything in return?
